THE HEART OF WORSHIP

THE SPHERE OF HIS LOVE EXPERIENCED THROUGH WORSHIP

John 15 speaks of the living communion with Jesus that all Christians maintain.

Jesus starts out telling His own disciples, “As the Father loved me, I also loved you.”

This is the heart of worship… being able to come into that love and experience Jesus taking in His very presence. Living communion speaks of our relationship which requires our soul be entwined with this intimacy, which Christ speaks of His vital relationship with us. Then Jesus says in the same passage, “Remain within the sphere of the love which is mine and keeping my words keeps you in my love and you will remain within the sphere of my love.

It is that sphere which He makes the center of a Christian’s universe, of which, much of that universe, consists of us giving our love to Him in worship as well as Jesus bringing His love into our hearts through that same experience.

HOW BIG IS GOD AND HIS LOVE

Because of this Paul writes in Ephesians chapter three a special prayer for all those who would desire to come into this experience, saying,” …that He would grant to you according to the wealth of His glorious grace, with power to be strengthened through the Spirit in the inward man, that the Christ might come to finally settle down and feel completely at home in your hearts through your faith; in love having been firmly rooted and grounded in order that you may be able to grasp with all the saints what is the BREATH and WIDTH and HEIGHT and DEPTH, and to know experientially the love of the Christ which surpasses (natural human) experiential knowledge in order that you may be filled up (to the brim... even to overflowing) to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

The prayer here that Paul is praying is the unlocking experience which comes through our worship of Jesus! Notice here that aim of our worship is to target Jesus as our object of complete love. Paul says that he is asking God for us to experience... for us to grasp what is this sphere – The Breath, the Width, the Height, the Depth of knowing Jesus experientially and this great love as it floods our soul and fills us with His awesome presence. The sphere is the love of God shed abroad in our heart by the Holy Spirit (Rom.5:5). The goal of worship is to take us there... into the very heart of the high praises of God reaching that love.

RELEASE AND BEING FILLED

I want you all to know that I have been to this place again and again and it never gets old. Experiencing the sphere is a lifestyle priority!!! I must be clear here, it is never a one time experience... as Jesus puts it, it is the place of intimacy with Him, where as a lover we come to worship Him with a heart full of adoration. I have gotten there through worship as well as in prayer. I’m talking about to the sphere (the place where He pours out this love into our heart) which is so vast and virtually measureless like that of an ocean. God’s love is so vast that it is actually overcoming to us just like seeing the ocean on the coast for the first time. You are just swallowed up by the proportion of its magnitude. You just open up your mouth and go shout from you spirit in worship back toward Him, YOU ARE AWESOME, JESUS, SO AWESOME! Now this is where you get some revelation and perspective of how all this time He was lovin you, but you weren't lovin Him. That is because He loved us first... we just had no regard for Him or proper reverence of Him for who He really is until this worship experience changes us so deeply.

Now your head is still attached, but it is swimming and on tilt!!! “Ding, ding,ding…TILT! God’s love is so BIG… I just can’t take it in.” "Why me and all your love for me, Jesus?" "Because I loved you from the foundation of the world and died on the Cross to save your soul, that's why." "Because I made you for a relationship with me, and I value that when you experience knowing me and my love for you, you'll want to be with me now and forever!" This is when the infinite God is filling us the finite human heart. But He sure does it, fill us, again and again in every worship experience all we need do is enter in. WOW, say it backwards. Yeah, your eyes are going to open when you experience the living God in worship!!!!! 

JESUS COMES IN CONTACT WITH US THROUGH WORSHIP

When Jesus comes into us it is through His Spirit. We experience Him through coming in contact with Him by our human spirit. Many understand the experience of the five senses and understand that there are also gates into the senses. When we experience the Lord's Spirit He comes in contact with our human spirit, and that is through the seat called our conscience. This is a sense that everyone admits that they have but don't pay much attention to. It is here, in our human spirit that the Spirit of God makes us to experience Him in worship. In the beginning, when man was created He had a daily experience with God as a result of this same his worship of God in the garden. Man is made up spirit, soul and body. We experience God through our spirit being flooded with the Holy Spirit and His love for us through Jesus!          

ALL MUSIC WAS CREATED FOR WORSHIP

I named the band (as band leader) “Region of Awe” because this is the goal and mission statement of our band to take people into that sacred place where the heart of man is completely exposed to the heart of God! It is my desire as well as the other members of our group to bring people into that place each time we play and people worship. 

All music was really created for worship. Someone can play music and it is in reality worship even when they don’t intend it for worshiping God. These play music and either intend to seek worship for the singer, songwriter, the players, the artist soloist, or the worship of their common creed stated in the song (the lyrical contents). People will worship the people who bring this type of music because they are reinforcing the crowd’s lifestyles no matter what it is. So that is where we see all the counter culture movements and trends get their influence from. Some call it guitar hero, or musician hero but it is worship no matter how you spin it.

MUSIC HAS ONE ORIGIN AND PURPOSE - WORSHIP

We have to realize music's origins from God and what is was created for. Plainly worshiping the Godhead…is the main theme to all music, to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!  On this origin and ground we see the intentions for its creation; to be the channel which people experience to connect with God. When worship is played in church, or when played by Christian artist it is all about THE LORD OF THE MUSIC. Its not about myself, my emotional experiences upon earth, we must press much higher into His Spirit and get out of Dodge and passed all those things that hold us captive and press us down. The experience of worship is where we can set behind us all these areas of this world, and as the music is played and His sweet presence fills the room where we are, we ascend by His invitation into the sweet communion which our heart longs and thirsts after. Worship music is the means to this end. It is about “God in the music!”For God inhabits the praises of His people (Ps.22:3).

THE BLISS OF HIS LOVE IN WORSHIP
Some of you I really don't need to tell about this, because you have yourself been there so you know what I'm talking about. Heaven is is filled with the bliss of His love because the Holy Spirit is in the atmosphere there. Now when we worship and praise God He fills our atmosphere with His Spirit so that He can touch people at there point of need whatever that may be. Some may feel so overwhelmed that they may be overcome with joy and bliss due to God's glory. Bliss isn't something easily ignored. In this fallen world it is a resource that sets free the captives and restores and heals people's lives. God's Spirit is penetrating, bliss it carries a peace that passes all understanding. The peace comes by God's blissful radiance in His worship. I have seen bright clouds fill the auditorium as this presence drifts in among the worshipers. I have seen the Spirit of God roll up like a wave of the sea and begin to roll out over the crowd. I have seen flashes of light splash across people as God touched them with His Spirit. Naturally there is a reaction to the Spirit of God when He is in the house. Some people react differently than others. But here I'm not talking about people who try to get something going, trying to help God out, I'm just talking about when God does what is normal for Him when He comes into a church service. You see the supernatural is normal to heaven so it should be normal to every church service. One thing when you see the Lord coming forth in a service is you must know He is in control not man. A point to remember when all these supernatural manifestations are happening around the church house is to think about how much compassion God has for us all, to see that are needs get met, and that are lives are changed under His compassionate plans.  

SPECIAL MOMENTS WITH JESUS
I think the biggest thing is to just be sensitive to His leading and co-operation with what He has planned to do right there in that moment. You shouldn't wonder why the Psalmist David says that he is panting and is as a thirsty deer longing after the water-brooks of sweet communion with Jesus. David is talking about the addicting bliss of His love that worship is filled with, the very one thing once experienced that no one can never reproduce or counterfeit... its the anointing of God. No other music on this planet can top worship, it is the highest honor to play for the KING!  It is the loving hands of God that come and wrap themselves around you in worship and when you feel His Spirit assuring you of that, you'll know that He is there with you.

HEAVEN'S NORMS - THE ATMOSPHERE OF WORSHIP
Heaven's presence is the norm of music, the abnormal is when there is no anointing on it because it is completely dead. I have heard great voices run the scales that didn't have a lick of anointing and it was dead, and then I have heard people who couldn't sing all that well, but after the anointing came on them they sounded so with it, it was amazing, and these people moved me into His presence the moment they opened their mouth. I know a pianist who is anointed of God that the moment she touches the keys... the power resonates down upon the listening people. We want Christian musicians who are anointed by God in order to bring us into His presence on the worship team. More is done through anointing worship than we know, and even the angel ride on the wings of praise!  

LET ME IN THE SOUND

When listening to Bono sing on his No Line CD there is a line sung…”Let me in the sound!” I’m sure most musicians want to be there, in the sound, but Christians musicians need to make sure they aren’t crowding God out of His own worship music by placing too much focus upon themselves instead of the on Him. The sensitivity of a person's spirit knows what fits and when to play things that will produce the flow that people need to enter into His Throne room. Some church worship bands think their in a concert mode ready to dazzle their audience with their unique artistry. Some church members just go to church to watch the worship band play a concert of songs that they hear on the Christian radio.  There is a point where we need to focus not on the worship band…but on Jesus Himself.  We aren't here to entertain people, we're here to minister to the Lord IN WORSHIP! So we need to magnify Jesus the very experience of worshiping Him alone, where the worship musicians become Jesus’ backup musicians and not try to take center stage away from the King of kings. Jesus is the band's lead-man... so He always gets all our attention in our worship! 

"God is already in His worship music"… and it is about connecting people into that experience with Jesus that is what the Christian musician is to be about! 

CHRISTIAN MUSIC TWANG THING

Now the Christian radio plays some fine tunes out there, most of them can draw us into a relationship with the people who are the writers or singers, and we can relate to it and think about them as people and such, but which of those songs connect you with the higher experience, where you listen and then you enter into worshiping and adoring your God who has given you everything, that is what true Christian music was meant to do. 

TAKE ME OUT OF THE GRIND OF CHRISTIAN BLUES

I appreciate the song writers that lift us up, to help us enter in not grind back into our emotions about all the problems we've had. Writing the Christian blues about how they are having such a hard time in Jesus serving Him, isn't really helping anybody. PLEASE TAKE ME UP HIGHER WHERE MY VICTORY IS! The very fact is that if they were connecting bringing people into the realm of His Spirit through worship they and others would get there minds off themselves and their problems long enough for God to supply all of their needs by meeting with them in His glorious praise and worship. Hasn’t the church listened to and sang enough “Crying in my beer and potato chip songs?… I thought we got over that, but they just recycled them, and Christianize them, and well, they just call them sanctified now you see? None of these type songs get me where I’m wanting and needing to go…and that is into that place where I can get connected with that living communion and that life which comes from His presence, where I experience the sphere which is the out-poured love of God down into my soul. We all need help getting God’s love downloaded into our hearts. The worship musicians are key in bringing people into this connection. You Better Know it!

I REALLY WANT TO BE APPREHENDED BY EXPERIENCING JESUS

"May you be apprehended by Jesus' love! 

May this love of Christ be your ever longing, desire, and experience.

May this love be ever your song before God. May you be filled with His refreshing again and again. 

He has placed a way into His sacred presence so that you might know Him intimately. Our lives are to be filled with worship, refilled with His love again and again. Worship must not be set aside or be given a second place in out lives.

As food is for the body, so is worship to the soul, it is the soul’s spiritually renewed breath! Worship is the channel where the impartation of God’s love, joy and life comes to us, and comes in us. The person who remains in worship of Him remains fresh, filled, and refilled.  It is time to take in His presence, and make that time we Him precious to you. Fit worship into your everyday schedule and then bring His presence within you to church on Sundays. Worship is the way that Jesus manifests Himself into people's lives and that's why I can't ever get enough of it, because I can't get enough of Him!

THE LORD COMES TO HIS TEMPLE -VISITATION & HABITATION

There is a big difference between a visitation... having some mercy drops fall down upon the people of God, then having God move in with you. When you have company come over there is always that point where the company has to leave, that is a visitation. However, when Jesus comes and you decide that you're going to allow Him to co-inhabit your life and church, that's when He decides to move in. Now that is a habitation.
Peter in his epistle speaks about the living stones that corporately made up His dwelling place. Do you want that at your church, cause you can have it! Habitation is where God goes with you cause you because you are His temple and when you get together with the other members of the household of God and they BRING IT... then you got a HABITATION. Habitation is where Jesus lives in those lively stones... He does is some awesome stuff when the congregation has determined to hang out with Jesus all the time. This can happen by increasing the prayer and worship life of each of the individual believers in the church. BE THERE...my friends! Of course, Christian musicians should try worshiping God in their private time before they bring it into the sanctuary and see how much more power comes with them into that place and into their worship service. This is also true for all Christians in general who attend, they too should privatize their worship all week and then bring themselves into the sanctuary, into corporate worship, and see what kind of increase the Lord does into their midst! The increase of God’s presence isn’t really hard to receive. If those prayer warriors pray for the service God answers with a strong hand in mighty exploits! This time with all this worship added, there will be a clear way an open up if you would of the heavens themselves, to the grand utterances of God in the midst of His people. I’m speaking to the gift of prophecy and to the prophetic proclamation of tongues and interpretation of tongues.

You now understand that the heart of worship is about His love for the church, and how close He wants to be with us all the time, in every part of our life.

Let The Drums Do The (Prophetic) Talking!

Instrument Conversations

Drums have a voice so you can let them be an extension of yourself and express

what you feel. Many musicians today are closed in, mostly in their own world when they are playing. Yet some feed off of the other players around them listening to what is going on and the phasing of the song itself to add taste fills. I know however that some drummers over play when they are not listening to what is going on around them. This may be because they are trying to impress rather than add and finesse! The musical atmosphere around us and what is currently happening is important not only to you but the other players you play with. What if your bud just played a fantastic number of measures on their instrument, and without listening to what was flowing their, being in our own little world, you play in an outburst right over what he has just laid down in the song? Well, my friend just may have cluttered over his expression, instead of flowing along with the musical conversation. Have you every been standing with a group of friend day dreaming? You think you know what they have been talking about, when one of them asks you a question about the theme? Suddenly you realize you only heard the first of the conversation and haven’t a clue about what they have been saying. You blurt out something about what the conversation was about, just to find out that they aren’t talking about what they were saying. Then they all look at you like you’re an idiot.  Musical conversation requires concentration.  Music often changes from one expression into another, so if you’re not paying close attention you won’t hear the changes and you’ll be left behind.  Then there are the players today that try to fake the conversation (like the example just given) by reestablishing the beginning of that conversation. When this happens the band may start over but everyone knows who was in their own little world playing their instrument.

Musical Conversations With God Through The Prophetic Stream

Musical conversation is fundamental to all music forms and especially to prophetic music in worship mostly because it is not what just one player is saying, but about what all the players are saying together. Musical conversation has a central theme as does the prophetic stream and when it comes through a time of worship and praise it is purposed to answer the needs of persons in that congregation. Conversation in music is a two way street. In prophetic music it begins with a delivery from heaven in song and lyric and jumps into a conversation. The instruments express this conversation as well as the deliveries which come from the singers. There are two different ways that prophetic music delivers itself. First because it starts in the realm of worship it is our conversation with God. Secondly, the conversation begins as heaven drops into the worship team the theme which is intended to happen. Thirdly, the singers and instrument in the worship group may have either and exchange with God in these expressions or with the congregation.

One area of prophetic is in the form of prayer and intercession which is inspired by heaven, the other diversity of this form is directed to the congregation individuals or the whole as to divine words proclaimed to set the people free! Either experienced results in an amazing and powerfully mighty time in the realm of the Spirit. The anointing is turned up as the mind of God is revealed directly. Scripture tells us that this type gathering experience is not for the timid.

1Corin. 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

The Prophetic Stream Bursting Out And Soaking In The Intercession Prayer Pool

The prophetic stream in worship causes amazing deliverance, healings, guidance, edification, as God seeks out those who have been waiting upon the Lord for help.

This form of music is a channel by which God causes a spiritual delivery of answers to many questions. There is another side to the prophetic stream. That side is the intercession prayer soaking side. We really don’t realize our need for the Spirit of the Lord just to minister to us. Just as the Spirit of the Lord hovered and brooded over the earth, forming the earth, it is necessary for us to sit and soak in His presence under the creative restoring anointing. Healings come through recreation, so under His anointing brings about what is necessary for regaining our health and wholeness, spirit, soul, and body.  

There are times when the Spirit of the Lord just wants us to sit under His presence breathing in everything of the Spirit of God. There is great perspective to know sitting at the feet of Jesus and giving Him total control of our lives. So you can gain this by sitting in the pool of prayer after this intercession. You don't have to do anything there but gaze into the Lord beautify presence!!!  There time in the prophetic stream of worship where this is made possible. The worship band plays interludes of music in the background while His people just soak in His presence. Doesn't that sound good. :-) It is! The Psalmist David had this in mind when he wrote his songs and we see the word "SELAH" which means meditate upon, focus upon God, or reflect upon God's goodness in worship, and in His presence.  Wow... this is exactly what everyone needs out there. 

The wonderful thing about this is some folks become addicted to the presence of the Lord, because they see their need for these special times of ministry. For these they can take with them and audio recording so they can continually be ministered to by the Lord and His same Spirit again and again. I have found that recording these songs from the Lord can be captured by just turning the recorder on and allowing God to have His way in that time period. Then when going back over the recording I edit toward the highlights of what God’s Spirit did in those sacred minutes.  

Flowing In The Stream Of Prophetic Delivery

The development of the worship team individuals to privately ministry to the Lord in song is key. What develops through private times of intimacy then is carried into the congregation by those same worship team players or singers. What they become privately before God in their times intimacy is what they are when it comes to the prophetic stream and ministry before the congregation. Private ministry to God by them is the same level of intimacy in the congregation when you ministry to the Lord all the time in worship! When one privately ministers to the Lord and receives prophetic songs from the Lord there, it isn’t difficult to receive them from the Lord worshiping Him before the congregation.

The goal of worship is focusing upon our object of affection Jesus Christ! Since He receives our affection, and because He loved before we loved, He is already to pour out His Spirit and love upon us. What comes out from this time of intimacy is our interactions with Him. The same is true when we are focused on Him in a worship team.

What comes streaming out toward us is His love and care for us which takes the form of the prophetic stream and moves toward all of our needs.

Rom. 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

He doesn’t withhold from us. So we know that His character delights in responding to us and toward all of our needs no matter what they are. This is why the worship team players and singers position plays us a important role in ushering in the presence of God’s anointing to meet people at their special point of need with His touch or direct word to them!

Jesus Is The Band’s Leader

Something to remember here is that Jesus is the orchestra leader and because of that the music we make for Him is much more than other own expression when it is accompanied by the Spirit of the Lord to minister to Him, or when we are in a receive mode in expressing the “Song from the Lord.” If you’re a prophetic musician you pay attention to place an emphasis where the band leader directs you. I think that this the foremost point is the main difference in prophetic playing, the different between playing for yourself and playing what Jesus wants.   

The Result Of Prophetic Playing In Worship

What comes forth from this specific type of prophetic stream in worship is a beacon!

The intensity of light is great… and the truth shatters the darkness and obscurity.

1.) Jesus is the Light self disclosed to those in the darkness, those who have been caught in the storms of life and need the light to guide them successfully in their navigation.

2.) Whatever is obscure it is penetrated by the light beaming from the Savior, and clarity is the result. This cause a overthrowing of the darkness in ones life and the dawning brightness of the morning star to govern us!

3.) The songs are created by “the Spirit of Prophecy.”

4.) The dynamic of delivery of such songs come spontaneously while worshiping the King.

5.) The “Song from the Lord” always carries the breaker anointing in setting the captives free!  “For where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty.”

6.) The prophetic songs always speak to the point of need; where the person or persons are spiritual at. In other words the songs speak forth the crucial link between the person’s need and the person’s freedom, and when they are received they bring the fruit of having the words of the Lord spoken directly toward that area.  

7.) Prophetic songs which come forth reveal the testimony Jesus Himself to everyone present in the worship, because it is the Spirit of Prophecy which reveals Jesus to us!  

Rev. 19:10b …for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

8.) For the Christian musician... it means seeing and hearing an amazing new flare of creativity which comes from the Spirit of the Lord into the worship music they are playing. Without a doubt Jesus and His Spirit are the most amazing creators of musical expression known to mankind. If you don't believe that just listen to Handel's Messiah sometime... and know this all came to the composer by way of him receiving divine inspiration. Now who doesn't need that?

Musical Instruments of Praise and Spiritual Warfare

The Musical Secrets of David…”The Breath of God”

Drums are the primary instrument used in praise and spiritual warfare. There are obvious reasons for this.

In 1 Chronicles 15 we are told that David set up musically instruments to play before the Ark of the Covenant perpetually. David actually had his hand also in designing these different instruments. 

It is on the Breath of God's presence as a subject which I would like to discuss with you today from our series The Musical Secrets of David.   

The Spirit of the Lord through Musical Instruments

But now let’s take a look at Psalm 150:6 which tells us, “Let everything that has “breath” praise the Lord!” I want to look at the “breath” of the instrument called the drums. I believe there is an association between the “Breath of God” in the area of worship, praise and spiritual warfare and the “breath of the instrument.” The expression of the instrument carries with it the “breath.” When the instrument is exhaling it is giving out a certain sound.

1Corin. 14:7,8 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

These intriguing verses unlock for us interesting applications when it comes to worship, praise and spiritual warfare.

1). Paul here gives us a phrase speaking of – life giving sound in talking about instruments.

2). Paul explains that a distinction or noticeable different is given in certain sounds which he explains which can be translated into meaning by the hearers.

3). Paul says we hear that sound once translated may alerts us to go into an offensive warfare.

I would like to cover a couple of points here in this post.

Life Giving Sound

Lucifer in heaven before his fall had instruments within him and he was the worship leader of the angels who worshipped the Lord. The instruments within Lucifer had no power to play of themselves. What would transpire was that the “Breath of God” would empower the instruments in Lucifer’s body as he was doing worship unto the Lord. Lucifer’s fall brought about his banishment from heaven, and his instruments now dysfunction without the “Breath of God” to flow through them. But before his flow the power of God would blow through each instrument cause a responsive worship in the heavenlies.

So we see that instruments are to have “breath” and “the breath of God” flowing through them giving them a certain distinct sound causing the body of Christ to rise up in worship, praise and spiritual warfare. Paul says “Life - Breath- Spirit  giving sound”… So did you know the very life of God was to travel through the instruments of worship, praise, and warfare? The Psalmist David in Ps. 150:6 tells us about a deeper truth, the “life giving breath of God” which travels through the instrument’s sound which is ignited with God’s power.

Remember it is the breath of God which makes alive! In this case instruments are the  exhalers of the breath of God which has being received as in flows through each player.  Now all this is quite supernatural, but we see the effects or evidence of the supernatural upon each subject who is in the house of God.

Flowing with the Wind

Jesus gives us this insight that the listener hears the sound and travels in the accompanying direction with the wind of His Spirit. The Wind of His Spirit is already blowing... it is catching its direction which is important.

John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Jesus says that those with the new birth have the capacity to apprehend and flow along with His Spirit wind.

1Corin. 2:9,10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (((But))) God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Eyes and ears are the gateways into our perception. Yet here it is talking about not what is coming through our natural gateways but through the perceptions which come through spiritual eyes and ears, that which comes through eyes and ears of faith (our perceptions  which bring conceptions and then to the birthing of expression in detail). We are given the ability to know the deep things of God.

Ps. 42:7a Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts…

Here the Psalmist makes clear that is at listening to His Spirit that the deep things of God become revealed.

The Fighting Power of God in Praise and Spiritual Warfare

Zech. 4:6b Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

BY HIS MIGHT, BY HIS POWER, BY HIS SPIRIT... not ours... HIS! There needs to be a leaning upon His Spirit in playing that causes His power to be in the middle of what we are doing. 

When the instruments are playing by the power of God in the service it is not sound alone which the enemy hears, it is who is traveling upon the wind which he sees and fears.  

2Sam. 22:11 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.

Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

God's presence in the form as a "Rushing Might Wind" is a force to be reckoned with. The power of God here is fierce and is like a tornado or hurricane however much more powerful. In warfare this means that the enemy is totally and completely taken off balance by the moving of His Spirit. In times when His Spirit is moving like this the enemy is scatter and everything is uprooted which he had planted. This Wind of God is loosed to change the spiritual landscape of whole countries, nations, and the world itself.

Ps. 68:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm or Song of David.

Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

Learning to Play with in Warfare

Playing drums I have personally experienced my eyes change and have seen the angels fly into combat as I have played worship, praise, and spiritual warfare in the service. “Making war in the heavenlies treading down the strongholds of the enemy”… a popular worship tune lyric describes for us what is actually happening while the high praises of God are being played.

2 Chron. 20:21,22 And when he (King Jehoshaphat)  had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

The Lord was in their worship, praise and spiritual warfare… and divine confusion came upon the enemy’s army the same way the Spirit of the Lord came upon the tower of Babel and they were destroyed. It was by the Spirit of the Lord in the music that we see this transpire. It was the Lord of host and the armies of heaven which cause the results.

Deliverance to the Captives by Praise

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… Luke 4:8 is seen on David when he delivers Saul.

David delivers King Saul from the evil spirit by the same means when he played in worship upon his instrument. The instrument is anointing with the Breath of the Lord, the sole essence which can bring freedom to any captive.

Some Instruments Carry Residual Anointing

Acts 19:11,12 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Here we read that the anointing is tangible and therefore can be transferred into materials like cloth or wood or metal, etc.. So instruments themselves when dedicated for the Lord’s use in the house of God where there is a resident anointing of God’s presence  soak each and every instrument and absorb this power or spiritual energy. I believe that after certain instrument have been anointed in worship that they actually carry a unique anointing for playing before the Lord. This would make them supernaturally worth more in value than mere store purchased instruments because they have come into the ultimate purpose to worship God! The Breath of His Spirit which blows constantly through an instrument used to worship God takes on a special qualities and is registered with an anointing that engages each time the player plays on it. The stream of God moves through this instrument and thus it is exposed to the power of God over and over, making the instrument that takes on this special anointing as the residue of the Spirit touches it and lingers and rests upon it, it is then forever changed!

Whatever is soaked in the presence of God has the unique substance of His Spirit attached to it… an instruments are no different. Remember that harp that was used by David to rescue King Saul from the evil spirit upon him; that harp had been used hours prior to that event worshiping in the high praises of God through the heart of a true worshipper namely a man after God’s own heart, David.

Oneness with God and Our Instrument

We have to be one with God if we want His River to flow through us… That said, I believe that anointed instrument become spiritually so attached to us that when God’s power flows through us and our instrument as worshippers of God, that our instrument which is attached and the oneness we feel then becomes the dynamic that the Spirit of God uses to flow through us and express it in the divine sense. When you ask those who worship with there instrument if they feel a special oneness with there instrument they normally answer, yes. Being able to play a musical instrument I have been told, “It is like having another set of body organs to express myself through.’ If we don’t have this level of oneness on our instrument then we going to be hindered in bring forth the expressions which have been placed inside of us by His Spirit.

Start Listening To The Creative Spirit In You!

Creativity starts in our human spirit man through the help of the Holy Spirit in us. You see, man has never had an original thought or idea, much less creative ability outside of God's gifting. God the creator has created everything and the devil is the creator of nothing. Everything which is created starts in our human spirit where we receive it, then afterward we give birth to it. What happens in us when we get creative is we bring out of us what is on the inside. The expressions that we have received from God is the very composition which is played through us as musicians. It is begins when we start to phase each musical line into the measure and so on. Creativity flows in receiving new songs which were never ever heard before. So did King David the musician-psalmist listen to the heart of God in his human spirit and creatively received and birthing, bringing forth heavenly utterance, and the expression of the Lord in song. 

Difference Between Soulish Playing And Playing In The Spirit

The Soulish part of us (we are made up of three parts, the spirit, the soul, and the body. The mind, the will and the emotions is the soulish part of man. In the musical training in the arts we are trained in our soulish part as well as in our body to naturally move with the flow expressing motion relative to the song we are practicing. Once we practice the song over and over we soulishly memorize it through our mind and our emotions and body actions until it becomes second nature to us.  When someone plays in the Spirit or with the Holy Spirit this means that instead of the expressions coming out from their soul they are allowing themselves to be influenced more by the Spirit of God in their playing. This means that a flare will developed where their playing will be guided more by Spirit than by the human soul. This example of playing in the Spirit is where the soul is not the whole expression any longer it is only the natural side of our train in the soul which is engaged along side, but the now the playing changes to expresses itself outside of the soul trained mode… in a free flowing new spontaneous musical zeal. These who have experienced this at first are often astounded and tend to surprise themselves at what happen successfully without following the normal mental programed agenda.

Ushering In The Healing Anointing

The other think I think needs to be mentioned here is the clear difference I have found in playing in the Spirit which is the ZOE LIFE (the life of God) the essence His Spirit moving through that music. Where there is this "LIFE" there is wonderful creative power administered by the Spirit of God to us. Re-creative miracles take place restoring the ailments of mankind, healing and preserving them so they might continue to be about their destiny in God's plan. Some people call their doctors, others attend the house of God for God's healing power. Don't get me wrong about doctors here, they fall under God's special grace to aid toward healing. I am just letting you know that under the anointing their is divine covenant provision for those of faith, where your healing has been already paid for (Isaiah 53) by Jesus at the Cross, and can be received as your's in total manifestation.  Amazing is the role of church musicians who usher in this presence from God which actually establishes the hand of God upon the individual who is in so much need. David's role was to play the harp and bring this healing anointing upon King Saul.

1Samuel 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

So it is with those who minister as musicians in the house of God. They play and the enemies works are destroyed because of the anointing.

The Moving Creative Agent Called The Holy Spirit

Gen. 1: 2b ...And the (creative) Spirit of God moved (hovered) upon the face of the waters.

You know when God is at work moving through the music, and His re-creative power is mounding up in the sanctuary, it sometimes difficult to play your instrument. However, the music goes on until the full measure for His purpose is reached. Under that power I have seen the acts of God's Spirit transform circumstances which were beyond man's ability to deal with. God who made our body, mind, and spirit... knows how to move into us by the Spirit of LIFE in Christ Jesus and FIX US!      

I don't know any secular music or musician that can top this supernatural fact! Truly some of these secular musicians envy and long for that ability, but can never have it, because it is reserved for those who are set aside for the music ministry in the house of God or Christian bands dedicated to carry out this mandate on stage.  

Stepping Out Of Oneself Into The Spirit

I remember the first time I stepped outside of the soulish side of playing drums into that area of playing in the Spirit. It really challenged me, because it demanded a playing expression that was spontaneously, which was outside any prier practice runs and it demanded an on the spot reaction which was very risky and that which many drum instructors would caution against trying. Well, while sitting behind my band on my drum thrown, after I pulled it off, playing in the Spirit this way the lead singer and band leader turned around and said, “Hey guys, we have a new drummer back there!!! Didn't you just hear that!”

By His Spirit… Another Drummer

Playing in the Spirit caused me to step out of myself and into being another drummer who became dominated by the influence of the Spirit of God more than my own soul. There was a certain freedom which I felt and enjoyed as a cap taken off which usually dominates players through fear. I fact most player usually remark that it is fear that keeps them limited and that is why they don’t try anything risky on stage in front of people. These same musicians have the faulty notion that it is through alcohol and drugs that they can somehow overcome their own limitations and play better. This is an illusion! A sure way of taking your playing performance edge away is to impede the ability of your full senses in listening and responding in the musical interaction and conversation by drugging yourself. The best performance players play their instruments at their peek physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Yes you can!, you can hear it in their playing!!!     

Given Over To The Influence Of Unclean Spirits   

Most musician have had other spiritual influences over take them in there music as they were playing. I think that they have felt it happens to them because its them personally making it happen, but they are only the vessel for such experiences to be triggered by these unclean spirits. Once in my BC years I was playing and an unclean spirit came through me in a song while the dancers were dancing on the floor and when this happened the sensual spirit moved into those present there and they started doing things which I will not talk about here (I know you get my drift).

Playing Through The River Of God

So again I will say that when you play in the Spirit you are leaning upon the resource that is not the soul but the Spirit of God even though the soul has been trained rudimentally, this expression which the Spirit will call you to play will be the current spontaneous expression. The most excellent expression which comes from God’s Spirit is the new level of creativity that flows and is not easy imitated. Caught in recording it is something. Everything which comes from God out of our spirit man becomes life-giving. The River of God flows freely and those who tap into it find themselves in engulfed in the rich current of this creative musical wave.  

Creativity Destroyed By Sin & The Devil

The opposite is also true for those who live sinful lifestyles. Musicians can literally cut off their creative flow. It may take a while, but it happens. It narrows to the place where everything that came so easy now becomes hard to express. The blockage grows and soon creativity is stifled completely.

How many musicians in history could you name, person after person who have started with great creativity to allow their sins to capture and destroy their creative expressions. Sin simply destroys the gift giver’s gift to you no matter who we are, and how high we believe we have flown in the game of fame. These gifts ultimately get brought down through a lack of character as sin takes control and domination. One thing I have learned through time is that your gift as a musician is not bigger than your character. So if you love your music gift…guard and preserve it though living a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ.  

There are those who were the devil’s pawns who are now eaten up and their ride is over. The devil has absolutely no loyalty for those whom he used afterward trashed, after using their musical gift to persuade the world in his evil. There is a path of  restoration! There is a restorer which can change your life forever if you swallow your pride and pray from your heart for Jesus is save and deliver you.

An Open Pipeline From Heaven And Bethel The Gate Of God

All musicians were created for the creator to pour through. It brings God glory when His musicians yield themselves to worship the Lord.  The angel Lucifer fell and was stripped of his anointing, was kicked out of heaven and his former musician position became filled by us the church musicians who now open up themselves to the flow of heaven’s Spirit. Church musicians who magnify their creator through the outpouring of His Spirit have creative expressions which take worshiper’s into “the high praises of God.”

Wave after wave is reaches higher and higher as the worshipers and church musicians through the Spirit “crescendo” and takes us into sweet release. Then I hear the beautiful singing in tongues throughout the congregation as the expression of the bride’s song as it reaches unto the groom’s ears. I though I was already in heaven, but it was heaven touching earth! Bright clouds appear in the sanctuary where a thin haze lingers in refracted light. The worship intertwines melodically with the song of the bride calling to her lover and His powerful presence comes thick and weighty among us to the point where all that is desired is to stay still before Him and soak, and gazing into the face Jesus’ Holiness. So we wait on Him in His presence, so intimate is it. Will He speak to us… as a lover speaks in such words to the one He loves?  And of course He does speak to our hearts so that each of us undeniably recognize that it is Jesus who is speaking to His beloved. What an amazing experience… time and again in the house of the Lord.

The Very Same God

I think all church musicians relish an experience of this kind and are blessed beyond measure to take part in allowing the Spirit of God to work through them at this level. The church is called to be the very Gate of God in Scripture, the place where people can meet and experience God in this personal way. The angels are working in the atmosphere charges with His divine presence. The presence of God meets us and we stagger under His healing wings. He is among us. He’s right here to meet every single need. So it is no doubt likely that His beams which stream forth from His hands as touching us should cause us to be overwhelmed.  Here we discover we have a personal God, who loves us, and truly cares, and has come to make a difference in our lives today!  We see the manifestations of His hand and power reverse everything that the enemy of our soul came to destroy. The very nature of God is creativity so when He comes to dwell in the praises of His people we expect the creative God to re-create among us. Miracles flow in this type atmosphere.

The Musical Secrets of David - Flowing Prophetic Inspiration

Prophetic inspiration is just hanging in the Spirit atmosphere ready to be had for

the taking of it. So take it out of the realm of His Spirit and then live in the reality of God's perceptions and truth!... Why live in obscurity any longer? Don't you know that the past is OVER...and the Future is now on your doorstep.

Isa 42:9-10 Behold, the former things are come to pass (are over), and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them (speaking of giving this insight of prophetic foreknowledge) . Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

The new prophetic song contains the very foreknowledge of revelation about what the Lord will do! We are told here that this message in sing is to be published, sung and played from the ends of the earth… even what the Lord will do (the prophecy).

David was a King and a prophetic psalmist of God. When David took up his instrument to play under the divine influence of God’s Spirit he received and released the expression or impression of the Lord in song. David became experienced in sensing the hand of the lord upon him in bringing this prophetic music to pass. In the prophetic there is the announcement from God of the future, and then comes the manifestation of what will shortly come to pass.

Gen. 18:17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do

It is David’s relationship with God that reveals to us his ability to receive from God under the anointing bring the prophetic song.

Acts 13:22b …I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Ps. 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Notice here that in Psalm 40 verse 3 it says that the new prophetic song was given and placed in the mouth of David the prophetic psalmist. His spirit was developed over time by worshiping the Lord under that tree in the meadow where he was tending his father’s flocks. Worship trains our spirit in the Spirit as the Lord ministers to us re-enforcing his relationship with us. Here we develop a sensitive listening ear or the inner spiritual ear for the things which God is saying at this present time. When David came under the influence of the Spirit of prophecy he listened to the song of the Lord and sang and played it out from his spirit!

Ps 149:1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

Like in the second part of Isaiah 42:9-10 similar to Psalms 149:1 the congregation is to sing a new prophetic song, that which has just been receive at the time of there gathering.

Together they are to publish the word of the Lord which they have just received of Him through all the earth. This means that they are to publish the word of prophecy so that others may come to know the future and what the Lord is doing in the earth presently.

Matt. 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Proceeding Words from God In Music

The proceeding words which come forth from god are filled with power and ability.

God’s Word contains the DNA map of what the Spirit of God is directed to do and fulfill!

1Sam. 3:19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

Jn. 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus spoke and the Spirit of God then brought the spoken word to pass! The quickening agent here is the Holy Spirit which does the work. David spoke in song and his words became the fulfillment of what God would do.  

The outcome here for those who here the prophetic word of the Lord is one of faith in God, and peace understanding that the Lord is in control of the future. Secondly, the new prophetic song becomes the edification and encouragement which is contained in the prophetic announcement or utterance toward knowing and acting in alignment with the Lord’s will at present. We understand that once the prophetic word of the Lord comes forth (the proceeding word which everyone is to be living with - Matt.4:4) then we have been given the insight to act accordingly and flow along those lines in His will, and reap the benefits of the prophetic word.

Matt. 10:41a He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward…

King David the prophetic psalmist was blessed by God with many divine insights both for his present and for future generations.

The Realm of Prophecy and The Prophetic Gathering

The Spirit of Prophecy –

These who do not have the gift of prophecy and who are not prophets cannot prophesy except when there is a Spirit of prophecy upon them. The infrequency of their prophetic flow is rather indicative that they function not by the gift nor by the office but ONLY UNDER the Spirit of prophecy’s influence.

(Numbers 11:29; I Corinthians 14:24; 12:29; Numbers 11:24-30; I Samuel 10:10; 19:20-24)

The Gift of Prophecy-

One who has the gift of prophecy can prophesy on a somewhat regular basis AMIDST GOD’S PEOPLE. He need not to wait for the special occasions when the Holy Spirit will come UPON a congregation with the Spirit of prophecy, but rather he can prophesy by reason of his RESIDENT gift. The gift of prophecy operates only WITHIN the SPHERE of edification, exhortation, and comfort.

(Romans 12:6; I Corinthians 12:10,11)

The Office of a Prophet-

The Office of a Prophet is an ascension gift ministry set in the New Testament church. It is a ministry to the church as a whole. Because this ministry is given as a whole to the church it can function universally outside the local congregation.

As seen in the question in the negative question… I Corinthians 12:29 not all are prophets even though they may prophesy. The office of a Prophet not only ministers in edification, exhortation, and comfort, but also operates in the realm of guidance, rebuke, judgment, correction, and revelation. The one who has the gift of prophecy but is not a prophet does not function in any of these latter realms.

Musicians playing in the Prophetic Gathering

A Prophetic Gathering (in the local church) is known for the function of the prophetic realm of God’s Spirit. The prophetic message or impression is birth under the atmosphere and influence by the hovering or brooding Spirit. Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is key in flowing with God’s agenda in the prophetic gathering.  As listed above…whether you are acting as under the influence of the Spirit of Prophesy, or have the gift of prophecy, or function in the office of a Prophet… the musician who comes under the divine influence of the hovering Spirit and has the sensitivity to be led of Him in their playing (drumming) can be used of God in delivering a prophetic message or impression.

Developing the Inner Spiritual Ear

The conception of the impression is first given to the listening musician and then they play and keep receiving under the flow of the Spirit’ influence. The musical expression is guided and played through the inner spiritual ear.  This is how King David heard and played the prophetic songs of the Lord which are written in the Psalms.      

The Spirit of Prophecy upon the Drummer to Prophesy!

It is by the Spirit of Prophecy that one plays their instrument prophetically. It requires the Spirit of prophecy coming upon the individual player or simultaneously upon players, or orchestrated in pattern one after another, in order to bring forth the divine expression or impression. Each sentence has a phase, line by line building up the message and its meaning to us. The inner spiritual ear catches such phrases. Note by note the musician under the influence of the divine Spirit plays each phrase transmitting the message conveyed by the impression given… thus “the song of the Lord” is manifest.

The Musical Secrets of King David (Revealed)

King David tells us of this experience in receiving the new prophetic song of the Lord.

Ps 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it (discern its meaning), and fear (and reverence), and shall trust in the LORD.

Notice here it is unto the discerning to know the meaning of such a prophetic song. The out come for discerning the message of prophetic song of the Lord is reverence and trust!

Ps 144:9  I will sing a new  (prophetic) song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

Notice here the instrument played is fully engaged in bring forth the new prophetic song of the Lord as well or is at lest equally with the singing in its importance in bring the prophecy to pass.

How to Prophesy on the Drums

Prophesy through an instrument is by inspiration. When the Spirit of Prophecy comes upon the player there is a flow in it, there is a sense of inspiration and divine expression made. When we are inspired it is like breathing in or inhaling. When we take in the breath of God’s presence and allow it to fill us the creative expression which comes forth is as natural as exhaling. The person who has experienced this inhaling of the breath of god exhales the divine expression they have sensed playing each note in the flowing of His Spirit.

2Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

So when we play the word of god we are touching the divine prophetic expression which has been given for the edification of the body of Christ.

1Corin. 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

Strike the Drum and Prophesy!

The expression of a psalm comes accompanied with musical instruments. The root of the word psalm is psallo which means to engage the instrument to play… or this case in drum language to “strike the drum!” The verse goes on …let everything be done toward edification.  The instrument and inspiration follows this direction in playing as the Spirit of God’s is leading. Here the orchestra leader is God the Father, “the song of the Lord” comes from Jesus, and the Holy Spirit brings the inspiration of each note with regard to the prophetic impression.

Now if you can’t discern what the Spirit desires you to play the musicians should not attempt playing. There is a bold confidence which comes to step out and start playing when the expression of the Spirit is leading the drummer to prophesy. You may ask, isn’t prophecy a spoken message? Remember the one who is drumming is speaking the prophetic song under the divine influence and expression of God and that song is a prophetic message to the body the church which like tongues must be interpreted. We are not limiting God in bring the song of the Lord to a verbal expression when the instrumental message is being expressed. Divine impression or revelation being played or prompted by the Holy Spirit runs its full course by stepping out on each prophetic phrase as they come spontaneously. In many cases the musicians normally act as an aid to add, reinforce, support or color the expressions which accompany the psalmist singer, but in this case the drummer is the phraser which brings forth the divine message as he beats in out on his instrument. As the drummer lays down each phrase he is painting the picture through each note bring the divine expression without the use of words. God hear uses the drummer to speak prophetic expressions to His people the church.

Drums used in Spiritual Warfare

Num. 10:34-36 And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of the camp. And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee. And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.

Num. 21:14,15,27-30 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

Drums have been used in warfare for centuries. There is a unique prophetic edge which comes upon the drums in this mode which rallies the host of heaven with the dominate prayers of the saints to destroy strongholds. The body acts as co-laborers with the Lord to make intercession and pull down the enemies blockades.  The Lord’s power and might is loosed against the enemy and breakthroughs are the result of such sessions.

1Sam. 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.

Zec 4:6b …Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

1Jn. 3:8b …For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  

Matt. 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Mic. 2:13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

The Breaking Anointing

The breaker anointing is expressed and the prophetic drummer senses exactly what is to be played in moving through each level of prayer intercession. Prayer warriors target their prayers like a battering ram or wedge in unison in warfare tongues and strong prophetic invoking of God’s Word. The results which come is hammers the strongholds until the walls are broken destroying and the captivity and oppression which caused each spiritual hindrance is broken down.

Isa. 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

The Song Of The Lord! (Prophetic Drumming)

The Prophetic Song Of The Lord's Singing Over Us!
Zepheniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee (in the congregation of the saints) is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Jesus sings over His congregation. But do we hear and receive this prophetic correspondence and respond during this type of worship?
Congregations can truly have "The Song of the Lord" in their midst, and those who have it experience great breakthroughs!

Our Direct Correspondence And Response In Worship

Upon a recent occasion I have had the opportunity to play with a worship team who centers itself in the prophetic movement of the realm of the Spirit. This is somewhat different in it approach than most other church worship services. The focus begins by the worship team becoming receivers asking God what He would have the worshipers play and sing. Right here is an amazing difference in the actual level of the anointing which comes into the service. Now the worship team begins like others which worship God by their whole hearted love as they move into what I have witnessed a period of direct correspondence and response. This direct correspondence from the Lord in worship is where the Spirit of God becomes the orchestra leader. The Worship band doing the worship song moves into a place where the Spirit places emphasis on the musicians and singers of worship. The singers sing as direct responses to God as an answer to what He has been ministered thus far in the service. The musicians play as directed from their orchestra leader the Holy Spirit. The music is very spontaneous from moment to moment. The spiritual atmosphere thickens with a weighty presence of God's Spirit. What everyone in the prophetic worship team is is waiting on is the prophetic “Song of the Lord.” Worshipers are taken beyond the edge of normal into the supernatural here and that is when that spiritual breakthrough actually occurs. The atmosphere has been transformed and fully changed by the spiritual anticipation and expectation of the congregation waiting upon the Lord! Just like a prophetic word comes forth there is a time of sensitivity in waiting on the Spirit of the Lord and in this case it is the "Song of the Lord" which comes by singing or by instruments giving prophecy.

A New Heavenly Song Of Worship
Rev. 14:2,3a And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne...

Now heaven is the norm when it comes to our worship. Notice that is says the voice of the harpers (meaning the persons harping) with their harps, they sung a new song. There is a voice of heaven here as the voice of many waters , and as the voice of  great thunders, and the voice of the harpers harping simultaneously responding to that voice of utterance from God bringing worship by a new song to the Lord's throne. This is an amazing passage... for it speaks of prophetic worship beyond what we think is possible when it comes to worship. This is exactly how our worship is to flow, like a conversation with God, back and forth communicating our love.

Are There Certain Sounds Which Can Be Known?

The Bible is very clear about instruments being tied to the Spirit in worship and prophecy.

1Corin. 14:7,8,10 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? ... There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification (none without meaning).

The answer to that is, Yes! Clearly Paul here gives us a New Testament example which speaks of instruments that are used to give certain sounds which transmit distinction and direction to the listeners. Musical instrument have voice and through the sensitivity of the musician can be played in such a way to prophetically speak. This is way beyond some soulish emotional effort in moving people through music, however the voice of all musical instruments do involve emotion in there voice. When people speak there words come out but it is the spirit of their words that move us. What I am speaking about is the voice of the Spirit which registers though the musicians playing in this time period. By the empowering of the Holy Spirit musical instruments can speak...and prophesy.

Rev. 1:10,11a I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last...

Rev. 4:1a After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me...

1Chron. 25:1a Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with HARPS, with PSALTERIES, and with CYMBALS...

The experience goes like this, after worshiping, after the singers respond through sensitivity to what the Lord is speaking back toward God, the instruments start to prophesy. It maybe just one instrument to be joined with another that the Spirit of God indicates, or maybe a multitude playing… however directed upon the Spirit’ theme. The theme of what the Spirit is saying is always the indicator to how the instrument is played and what the instrument plays in bringing in this communication before the congregation. Just like when the Spirit of God uses the communicative gift of tongues and interpretation, the Spirit uses the musical instrument and then there comes the interpretation of “The Song of the Lord.”

  

They Heard The Song Of The Lord

2 Chron. 29:25-31 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.  And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began (Prophetic Worship) also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel. And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped. Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer (Prophetic Worship). And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped. Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.  

Notice here that this passage is speaking of worship is tied to the prophetic and the prophets are involved in the worship and interpretation of the prophetic song of the Lord.  The musical instruments are very involved here as well… because it is the instruments being played in such a way that is bringing this song. The “Song of the Lord” like in tongues interpretation, has spiritual contents which need be interpreted.

Bring Me A Minstrel To Play
2 Kings 3:15 But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

How many times have I seen the Spirit move when worship is played, it sets the atmosphere as well as causes the living waters to flow into the house of God and touch the needs present there. Here it says the Spirit moved when the musicians played. Could it also be that when the power of that anointing came, that the word of prophesy came on the wings of His Spirit by each and every worship note? I think so, because I have experience this close relationship between the Spirit of Prophecy and Worship music.

Prophetic Worship And Prophetic Drumming
Prophetic Drumming leads people into the High Praises of God where breakthroughs occur. Prophetic worship is fresh and new and mostly a spontaneous flare in the musicians playing that is not sustained by a mere human effort, but is sustained by the very presence of God.

 Isa 43:18,19 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
   

As I played my drums along with the other instruments at this time of worship called “The song of the Lord,” there came a spiritual interpretation to the song which was played instrumentally. The congregation was blessed, and I was involved in a dimension of music which I had been experienced.  

The basis of this type of playing comes through a humility and sensitivity upon ones instrument to catch what the Spirit of God desires to play in transmitting this prophetic Song of the Lord. It requires a submission to play when He indicates and what He indicates because it involves His theme… which is the communication part.

As a dedicated musician for the Lord having these experiences, it has answered for me a bigger question, that has been with me since I started my playing before being saved. That is the question is not about musicians being spiritual, but being "fully" spiritual and complete. In the experience of being a part of the Songs which come from the Lord, God has answer the deep longing, answering me about the musician’s true purpose as being the voice through which He can speak directly through worship to His congregation. Because of this witness by the Spirit of God, this worship team musician and worshiper will ever stands in AWE of Jesus and the Spirit of God at work today!

The River Of God ... Musicians Flowing In The Supernatural!

While sitting in a drum booth playing down at a church in South County I was a almost push over suddenly by a rushing wind. As my mind reeled on how the Spirit of God could move through the box where I was sitting, it dawned on me; the Spirit isn't hinder by merely the material realm, He can move through it. Thinking more upon it, the Spirit moves us in our playing music, He moves through us and touches the listeners inside, and He it fills us to overflowing. That is supernatural isn't it?!

Why do we play music that doesn’t minister to the human spirit that is unanointed and unable to supernaturally carry the transforming power of God? It is mostly because we are self-centered and not God-centered in our music. It is the classic argument, "Did God give me this talent to glorify me the gift, or did God give me this talent to glorify the gift giver?"

Well, one day I was auditioning for a band that said they where “Christians” while mixing in popular secular music mostly rock oldies. I knew most of those old songs and went along and soon when the band decided to begin playing the Christian tunes, in the middle of the second tune the band stopped suddenly! They were just staring at me, “Well, what?” Two of the band members then start telling me “Wow, when we were playing the Christian songs you just lit up!” The rest of the band chimed in, “We see it too, so you must like Christian music more than the other, right?” So thinking on that statement and experience I had, I started to a really understand the direct difference between the two types of music spiritually speaking. First there are only two types of music according to God’s word… inspirational and secular. Jubal is a good example the represents the secular side of music - Genesis 4:21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. And David is a good example which represents the spiritual side of music – Psalms 150:6 “Let every thing that hath breath (speaking of musical instruments) praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”   

When a person is playing secular (natural) music the only "life" in those tunes is "the life" that we pour in it ourselves, yet when we are playing Christian music "the life of God" is already there in that music. God has poured Himself into that music.  Further, the very supernatural of God is present in it! How do I know this you may ask? This Scripture, Pslams 22:3 “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” When we are playing Christian tunes or worship and praise we meet Him and the supernatural there already in the music and the supernatural is released and poured out upon the listeners. So then there are now four of us playing this song together in unison. Yes, the trinity is playing along with you. When we open up to His anointing there is a tremendous power that flows through us as we play.We become the conduit for His supernatural river.

Before the fall of Lucifer he enjoyed that supernatural stream flowing through him, it was truly intoxicating. Lucifer had instruments in his body that when God's power would surge, Lucifer would play his instruments. I think all musicians can be temped as Lucifer was, intoxicated on themselves not God, and some can let there (natural) playing go to their heads like Lucifer did and fell. Today, Satan is still bankrupt. To get musicians he has to steal them always from God which place gifts within. Satan even tempts Christian musicians and desires to steal the power of God off of them to act as merchandisers of the anointing to lift up and promote Satan's projects that require motivational music to get people to sin. Add that up, is that what you are caught up in?

I guess the real mastery in Christian music is to manage what is happening while the Spirit of God is moving through us, not move us into the place where our head gets swelled and messed up where we thing we’re bigger than the gift giver, and it takes us down to the place where we get hit by the Devil’s sales pitch for fame and glory. So instead, if we stay humble, and if we stay focused on His glory and become a part God’s supernatural scene, we get to watch the awesome things God can do through us creatively and supernaturally.

It is amazing what the Lord can do, the limitlessness of potential, when the constraints in our way is removed completely through faith in Him. This is where new artist creativity is opened to us, tapping in, through entering the treasure house of God Grace and abilities! To me, what is most amazing is, the fact that God can move because of something I align myself with musicially, which causes great healing and supernatural ministry to break forth in His house! Yeah. May the music entirely honor Him who sits on the Throne, King Jesus forever! 

Satan's job however is to move (natural) musicians into his pawn army where he uses their gifts to get his message out. yes, Satan has his own evangelists to promote darkness rather than light. Satan's snare for the Christian musician is to get them distracted by listening to other (natural) musicians and (natural) artists who have sold out to that "bugger" and tempt the Christian (supernatural) musician to go for his scene instead of God's scene! It is Satan's plan to destroy the potential of God in musicians to be able touch those in need through the Spirit of God. This is very discernible - very black and white. for Satan it is all about stopping the purpose for which music was created for, to be the very catalyst invented by God which carries (((the river of His Spirit to us.))) Satan wants musicians to rely completely upon the natural side of music, so the floods of God's Spirit won't be poured out, interrupting and knocking out his plans in the earth for sin and human destruction. 

The good news is today Satan is being exposed and more musicians that are hungry for... and have experienced the tasting of God's goodness are leaving in numbers. These musicians have started to experience this supernatural river and learn how to flow with it. Praise God... He is so good all the time! Yes, I can truly say that I am among a band of Christian brother & sister artist-musicians who have answered the call to do their music for a higher purpose. To Glorify Our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ!
